The person behind MrRowie

Electrician, RF engineer, IT guy — and someone who has always taken things apart, understood them and put them back together better.

Who is writing

I am Ronald Wiesinger — most people say Rowie.

I have been working in IT for a good 20 years — and with technology for as long as I can remember: first as an electrician across all trades, then as an RF engineer, finally in IT. That order is no coincidence. Once you have understood how electricity, radio and networks fit together, "it just doesn't work" stops being an acceptable answer.

I have been self-employed for a good four years. The decision came during the pandemic: I wanted to be my own boss — and my main customer made that step possible. Trust that carries to this day.

From the switch cabinet to the hypervisor

The attitude

If it does not fit, it gets made to fit.

Free opinion + free choice + free technology = a better society.

I have never settled for "that's just how it is" or "that's how it's done". I freed routers from their proprietary firmware long before "digital sovereignty" became a buzzword. Home automation, Meshtastic radio networks, whatever is exciting right now — I want to know how it really works.

MrRowie grew out of exactly this attitude: when the right tool is missing, I build it — as open source, so it belongs to no one but the people who use it.

Away from the servers

Anything else?

Privately I am married and father of a daughter. When I am not sitting in front of servers, I love being outdoors — a sports enthusiast and nature lover through and through.

And yes — the tinkering continues after hours: whatever can be taken apart gets taken apart, understood, and put back together better.
